Our Story
John Manners grew up around the building trades, where “good enough” was never the standard. His family’s construction roots go back to his grandfather, Lee Price - known as “Mr. Do All” - who built custom homes and apartment buildings across Washtenaw and Wayne Counties in the 1950s and 60s.
In the mid-1960s, John T. Manners began learning the craft alongside Lee while dating Lee’s daughter, Carole (they later married in the 1970s). After returning from the Vietnam War, John T. earned a B.S. in Geology from Eastern Michigan University and co-owned Geoseis, an oil and gas exploration company in Michigan. Even throughout his geology career, he continued working as a licensed builder - keeping the family’s connection to construction strong.
As a third-generation builder, John A. Manners paired that hands-on legacy with an engineering mindset. He graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (1996) and later earned a Master of Science in Manufacturing and Innovation (2004) through MSU’s Eli Broad College of Business. After 30 years in engineering, and never leaving the passion for construction behind, John returned fully to his roots in 2021 - bringing a problem-solving approach to this day with John Manners Construction.
Today, John Manners Construction serves Fenton and surrounding communities with one goal: make homes better in ways that last. Safety, quality, and integrity guide every decision - from the first conversation to the final walkthrough. Outside of work, John enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and off-roading in his Jeep - enjoying all that the Great Lake State has too offer.
